About You:
I had a career early on that gave me a lot of responsibility but because I was young and uneducated, I was not paid very well. When I went through my divorce, I could no longer travel and still take care of my children so I did the next best thing and made a career change and found work that allowed me to work from home. I was working in a sales/branch management in staffing and was successful at it but I am a bit of an introvert and didn't want to always be in sales but had trouble with people looking at my staffing experience as real HR type experience so I took a big career change and because a mortgage loan officer. After a year I was hired into a mortgage company as a recruiter and quickly moved into leadership positions because of my management and sales background. Soon moved into a Recruiting manager position but it still wasn't giving me the HR or management growth that I wanted so I reached out to an SVP at my company and asked him how I could grow my career. he told me that he was expanding his department and would make a spot for his team in his PMO. So I moved into project management and also took on additional responsibilities implementing and later managing the team for the internal travel department while learning the project management functions. When the company was going through a possible merger and I felt that the department was going to go away. I still didn't have my degree or PMP. A friend had went to another company and had been trying to recruit me for months so I decided to make a move where I moved back into HR as an Operations Manager and I managed all the HR programs/projects and reporting. During this time I became extremely knowledgeable about the ATS and reporting systems. The parent company decided to shut down the mortgage portion of their business and laid off all but a small servicing segment. I was one of the last 10 people to go as I did the reporting and HR functions. I was also working on completing my degree during this time. I was so busy closing out the business and finishing my degree that I didn't look for another job and graduated and was laid off the same month. I was scared, as a single parent still and sole provider, it was a bit risky but luckily I had a call and a job offer within a week. I moved into telecom as an Operations Manager for an HR Department. I continued my growth in HR and in reporting and the HRIS and ATS systems. About a year into my employment, someone mentioned another Operations Role within the organization which would put me into the business reporting to a VP. I applied and received this role in the Professional Services organization where I was able to really grow my knowledge of managerial accounting, reporting, executive dashboards, projects, etc... Because my boss looks at his ops manager as a growth position, after a year he moved me into a PMO role. I'm currently a program manager with 3 people that are implementing a PMO within our Global Services organization. Our PMO will have a very active involvement in the cost and revenue accounting for the projects that come through our office. We are a software development company so 90% of our work is customer facing so efficient project management is key to our profitability. All of my career and income came before I even finished my degree so I know that I have drive and smarts to do things. I just need help on taking it to the next level. I'd like to move into a Director, VP, SR VP of HR, Operations, PMO, etc... Those are the 3 areas that I have the most knowledge and/or comfort however I learn very quickly so I'm not opposed to learning more. I have very self analytical but I can handle input. My SRVP said I'm the only Ops Manager that he's had that he hasn't made cry. I am extremely process oriented and I can be a bit over-analytical but I'm usually very good at finding gaps and suggesting solutions. I have considered putting together a business plan for a non-profit because I have a 22 year old son with MR/mind autism and there are some thing that appear to be missing in those individuals so I do have interest in mentors in this area too but I still am focused on growing my career too.
