About You:
Hello. To whom this may concern, currently I am at a point in my life where I need some positive influence. My parents are not the greatest role models, nor is my 26 year old sister or 39 year old half brother. At the current moment, I feel so disconnected to everyone around me. The very people I am surrounded by created a beast inside me that is near impossible to tame. Psychologically, I haven't been myself lately. To be honest, between who my father and brother want me to be, I don't know who I should become. Since I was a little boy, I have always experienced trouble bonding and creating relationships. I don't want to place the blame over my families head, but i know that at my age the possibilities are endless. It turns out whatever decision I currently make, somehow it comes back to bite me in the ass. To the best of my knowledge, my father was physically and emotionally neglected by his alcoholic mother and apathetic father during his youth. At the age of 19, my father had my brother , ultimately ending whatever was left of his youth forcing him to mature rather quickly at a young age. My brother grew up with a mother who was abusing narcotics so my father left her without collecting child support. With the huge responsibility of being a single father, it brings me to the assumption that my brothers life--before and after my mother came into the picture--was physically and mentally debilitating. Since my father was always working and had a new wife, he was more than likely not father of the year. My mother on the other hand, was one of the youngest of her 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Her father died young of alcoholism which forced her mother to bear a heavy load of raising the kids on her own. Being the youngest of my siblings, I understand why my mother is always distraught when she doesn't get her way. Her and I both at a young age was attached to the one that always came to the rescue, Mommy. In 2011, we lost my grandmother to a heart attack and it tore my mother apart. My mom and her siblings always pushed through the bullshit and stuck together for the sake of their mother. After she departed, everything changed. Maybe I haven't exactly adapted to the circumstances of the situation I was so comfortable with, but to me that was what family looked like. Growing up I heard family was the most important thing. Now I have to live with witnessing my mother cry on multiple Christmas eve's because her brothers and sisters were too busy or watching my half brother make a scene on our family vacation because my father was attending to my sisters' needs instead of showing up on time for my half brothers' daughters birthday dinner. In reality we all know there are certain things we should do for our family. without sacrificing our dignity. One of the things that I cannot do is abandon them, but I know it's statistically in my best interest to break free from the constraints I am bound by. I know that I am the only one capable of controlling my own future. But how can I sit back and just let it happen? I love them so much but I can't let that jeopardize my future before its too late to turn back.
