Hello and Good Day
About You:
In late October (2012) I started a position with a company as an engineer to support the design and construction of ships. I have not done this specific type of engineering in approx. 10 years, but my initial education and 4 jobs were in the area of marine engineering, design, shipyard construction and interface with all areas and people on the team. I am unfortunately feeling very rusty at my new job and a little fearful that I'm not keeping up with my job even though it has only been 6 weeks.
Looking for:
Someone who is experienced with developing technical documentation (like statements of work or specifications) and/or drawings. Your knowledge and experience may or may not be specific to ships, but a good working knowledge of engineering concepts, knowledge of how things work mechanically, integration with other things that may be related to electrical, propulsion, structural, shipboard operations, etc. Someone who can help me understand the tasks given to me and help with providing direction in how to proceed with doing the various engineering tasks given to me, and understanding how I can approach it differently to do better. I am getting the impression that my input so far has not been adequate because I have not been asked to go on additonal travel, or to specific meetings, or to continue with a focus that I was originally given, etc. I believe I need someone to discuss the projects and probably different perspectives. It may even be in the area of project management of the tasks as well. I'm not quite sure what the problems are, and concerned for my job. Yikes. Thank you in advance for reading this and your consideration to mentor.
