Introductory Phrase:
I am a current Computer Science Major looking for a mentor
About You:
I am a current student at CalState University Northridge, with a major of Computer Science. I completed an AA in Computer Information System at junior college, upon transfer I switched to Computer Science because I have found programming to be challenging and rewarding. I love the feeling I get when I solve a difficult problem or fix a bug within a program. I have had perfect scores in nearly all my classes related to Computer Science, but I feel like there is so much outside of the scope of my classes to learn. Outside of programming I enjoy staying fit, running, lifting weights, discussing philosophy, reading science articles (particularly hard sciences like physics), and of course playing computer games. I am currently considered a senior due to extra credits in CIS, but it will be 2 more years until I graduate so I am more like a junior.
Looking for:
I am looking for a mentor who will challenge me in ways that are not covered in my university classes. I would like to be able to apply the skills I have learned in class to open source projects. I know I will need to learn skills not taught in class to accomplish this like version control systems, I also would like advice on how to obtain an internship.
