About You:

I'm a 38 y/o single mom who is looking to change careers. I have been working for the postal service for 7 years now and I'm having a difficult time finding another job. A big problem is the salary; however, I am looking to make less just to escape a job that's physically and mentally draining. I am enrolled in the community college Health Information and Informatics Technology program, with hopes to gain employment in the administrative side of healthcare. Upon completing my 2 yr degree I plan to continue to pursue both my BA and MA also in the same field.

Looking for:

I am looking for a mentor within the field preferably, but not necessarily. I need guidance; almost a step by step approach to gaining a basic level job in administration within the healthcare setting while completing my education. Note: I have already completed medical terminology and have customer service/business administration skills (I was a system analyst for a major payment processing company before leaving to go to the post office). At 38, I cannot afford to make any more mistakes in my career path, and I need someone to guide me in the right direction and help me to make the right decisions going forward. Understand that I do know what I would like to do, and I am working on it, but due to the hectic postal working schedule, its difficult to be a full time student. I find myself having to take a class or 2 at a time, which is making my academic career longer than anticipated. I really need help and feel as if this is my last hope.
