Introductory Phrase:
Hard-working and experienced but totally lost
About You:
After completing B.A. and M.A. degrees in psychology, and racking up way more debt than I can handle, my entrance into a 'real career' was difficult. I worked extremely hard though and even volunteered to get my foot into the door of the career I wanted at the time. I proved myself hard-working, well-equipped for the job, and was quickly promoted. My personal life took a turn for the worse, though, and I ultimately had to leave this career. This was about 10 years ago and I have struggled to find my niche and get back on track since. I have quite a bit of great experience and - once I get in somewhere - I always prove myself to be valuable. My biggest struggles though are: 1. Selling myself and getting that initial opportunity, 2. Knowing my value (I have been extremely underpaid my entire career), and 3. Finding the right direction and what it is I am here to do. I have primarily worked in very high-stress environments, which I am good in. I've worked for the government in probation, mental health, in one of the countries busiest ER's, treatment centers, and group homes. The biggest compliment I believe I've gotten came from my sister, "Jill, you could walk into a room full of strangers and walk out with a room full of friends." I thrive in environments that challenge me, are unpredictable and always changing, and where I get to meet people from all walks of life. The latter is probably most important to me. I'm grateful for having been able to work in some of the most diverse atmospheres, where I've been able to meet all kinds of different people. I get bored if I don't feel regularly stimulated, and it's extremely important for me to feel as though I'm being useful and helping others or contributing to society in some way.
Looking for:
I know that I no longer want to work for someone else, but do not know what's realistic for me at this point. I have no business experience and think it might help to start off with some kind of side hustle. I am looking for someone who can help me find clarity, direction, and teach me how to get what I am truly worth. I prefer someone who is a combination of kind and encouraging, but direct and will call me on my BS. I know I can do so much better in my life and my career- I just need your help to figure out how.
