Introductory Phrase:
Aspiring Christian Counselor with a focus on Marriage and Family seeking a mentor
About You:
Hi! I'm Kelly, a happily married mother of 1 (for now). I started working on my Graduate degree in Mental Health counseling a year ago, a few months later I heard God's calling to specialize in Christian counseling. I then changed to Liberty University where I could pursue a Christian education, and chose an emphasis in Marriage and Family. My ultimate goal is to work in my church as the counselor helping married couples who are dealing with issues and doing premarital counseling for engaged couples. I have a passion for helping others and have always felt this is my God given purpose in life. I am a great student, I have a tremendous passion for the future and my career as a counselor. I work full time and attend online classes. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I was saved and baptized just over 3 years ago. I wasnt raised in the church, but found God as young adult, drifted away due to some negativity within the church. Then later turned to Him and returned to church upon receiving healing and restoration of health issues. I vowed at that moment to live to serve God in all things. Sometimes I am still shocked when I see how much I have changed and the direction that I am going. I don't question God's calling but my confidence is not always there because of my inexperience as a Christian. I still have much to learn but with a completely open heart, I know that I am destined for this.
Looking for:
That's where my future mentor comes in.... Unfortunately because I attend online classes finding a mentor is difficult, my church has many members but not enough leaders, only one of which is a counselor, but not practicing at the church. I would really like to find someone that can just help motivate me and guide me, my walk and my future career. I am ready to listen and learn and receive any guidance that is not just from an experienced counselor, but a person of God.
